My Paintings

My paintings of our feathered friends are created to inspire and bring colour and personality into your space.

All of the artworks on my website are original and painted by myself.

My work celebrates the beauty of nature and highlights the importance of conservation and environmental protection. Many have a story behind them, which you can read these by clicking on the paintings image.

Process
My creative process begins in nature. I spend time observing, photographing, and sketching wildlife before developing thumbnail concepts for potential paintings. Once I’m happy with a design, I draw it out in pencil on paper.  

​I then prepare the canvas, sketch the image onto the surface, and block in the main shapes. From there, I build up the painting in five to twelve layers of oil paint, often adding new ideas as I work to deepen the meaning and connection within the piece.

Depending on the size and complexity, each painting takes anywhere from a week for smaller works to up to three months for larger pieces.

Quality
Quality is important to me. I use Winsor & Newton Professional oil paints, made with pure, lightfast pigments that are A-rated for longevity — lasting well over 75 years.

My canvases are 100% cotton or a cotton-linen blend with a tight, even weave, and the frames are crafted from FSC-certified sustainable wood.
