"Surfs Up" Narrative
The Fiordland crested penguin is one of the rarest of New Zealand’s penguins and is critically threatened. I wanted to show this threat by using the visual metaphor of tsunami waves threatening the birds. The Washi umbrella is symbolic of how fragile and unprotected these birds are from the incoming destruction.
I have open edition giclee prints on premium paper for sale. The image measures 45.7cm x 30.5cm and has a 4cm border.
Archival inks are used that will last over 75+ years. The paper is Ilford Galerie Prestige watercolour paper, 100% cotton rag.
