Narrative:
My painting explores the pressing environmental issues currently facing the Arctic, particularly on climate change and loss of of habitat for the wildlife that call it home.
I have presented this work in a childlike, naïve style to present the truth and the horror which we face that is met with
The Arctic is undergoing rapid, catastrophic changes, with sea ice melting at alarming speeds and setting record lows that threaten the entire ecosystem, while governments and companies frequently prioritize resource exploitation over environmental protection. As the region warms nearly four times faster than the global average, the vanishing ice is creating a "death sentence" for species like polar bears and ringed seals, yet simultaneously opening new routes for shipping and drilling that further accelerate the crisis.
The vibrant palette and illustrative style assist me in pulling an audience in to look closer, and to connect with the reality of what is happening in our world. This work helps me to present uncomfortable truths, evoke empathy, expose vulnerability, and document this moment in time.

Materials
- Artist Quality Winsor & Newton oil paint, (pure pigment for clean, bright and light-steadfast colour). The paints A and AA ratings aid in the longevity of the paints, and will last well over 75 years. A UV varnish has been used to protect the painting.
- Canvas is made from 100% cotton with a tight, even weave and are coated with a quality gesso primer.
- Custom frame, hand painted - Lewis Paape Gallery and Framing.
- Comes with a certificate of authenticity, signed by me, the artist.
