My paintings are from the photographs I’ve taken of real kiwi birds.  Manawa  (left) and Mapuna (right).
 
Promise of Tomorrow is a celebration of two special kiwi and the hope they represent for the future of their species. 💚These little kiwi chicks are my representation of Manawa and Mapuna as young chicks.In my painting, the two young kiwi are nestled together, quietly watching a Monarch butterfly. For me, their closeness represents companionship, while the butterfly is a symbol of new beginnings and a hopeful future.Today, Manawa and Mapuna are grown and are a breeding pair, successfully raising the next generation of kiwi.Manawa, with her beautiful brown feathers, is an energetic bird who loves to chase her partner around. Mapuna, with his distinctive white plumage, is calm and tolerant, and a very good father who helps ensure their egg is kept warm.I feel very privileged to be able to share a small part of their story through my painting.
