Each painting is created from the photographs I’ve taken of real kiwi chicks at Pūkaha Wildlife Sanctuary in the Wairarapa.  My painting is  a celebration of the work that is done to protect the kiwi, and bring small moments of joy that you can enjoy every day.
 
My paintings are based on photographs I’ve taken. As a volunteer, I have the privilege of helping the rangers care for kiwi chicks and other native birds. I have a small window of time to take a few photographs as kiwi can become stressed. I then sketch my design ideas, before starting the painting process. This work is my tribute to those brave newborn kiwi and to the incredible work being done by many people to protect them. My hope is that these paintings will become treasured heirloom pieces over time—and bring a smile whenever you see them.
