Narrative:
My painting explores the pressing environmental issues currently facing the Arctic. The questions you may ask are, why is there a giraffe floating into the Arctic? Why is this wilderness inhabited by people? Is it warm enough to swim?
I have presented this work in a lighthearted, naïve style to reflect the issue of climate change and our impact on wildlife and the environment.
My narrative draws on the absurd, using satire, irony, and symbolism to tell a story.
The vibrant palette and illustrative style allow me to say one thing while implying another, creating a deeper connection between the artwork and the audience.
By infusing humour into my work, I can delight, critique, present uncomfortable truths, evoke empathy, expose vulnerability, and document this moment in time.
