Narrative: As twilight settles over the forest, a young kiwi chick takes a step into the world. Surrounded by bush, this little explorer follows its instincts with quiet confidence, guided by a sense of intuition that has been passed down through generations.
Although young kiwi become independent at an early age, they carry with them everything they need to begin their journey.
This painting speaks not only of the chick's path through the forest, but also of the invisible threads that connect us to the places, people, and values that shape who we become. Inspired by my time helping at Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre, this painting celebrates courage, independence, and the quiet confidence to keep moving forward, even when the path ahead is unknown. Sometimes the greatest journeys begin with a single, determined step.💚

Materials
235gsm Matte paper
Printed on 100% cotton with a smooth texture that allows for a beautiful traditional watercolour look and feel, whilst still reproducing pin-sharp details and colour consistency. The paper has the purest white tone available on the market, without any Optical Brightening Agents (OBAs). Optical Brightening Agents are artificial brighteners that deteriorate over time.
Ink: Archival UltraChrome Pro ink that provides superior colour accuracy and archival image stability. The ink is UV light resistant. Archival inks last up to 200 years, and are fade resistant.
