Story: This kiwi bird is named Jack who was born in early 2025.
In this artwork, a young kiwi chick pauses to study a walking stick (Acanthoxyla). The chick’s curious gaze meets the quiet stillness of the insect, creating a gentle moment of discovery between two creatures that share the same forest.
In Māori tradition, insects are respected, and it is said that if a stick insect lands on you, you’re entering a sacred place.
This quiet encounter reflects a sense of connection, reminding us that even the smallest creatures have their place and purpose.
As a volunteer at Pūkaha Wildlife Sanctuary, I have the privilege of helping to support conservation efforts and connecting with the beautiful birds that live there.
My print of this dear little kiwi bird is designed to be cherished, and to be a special piece in your home.
The print measures 21 cm square (8.26 inches) and is unframed.
