Narrative: Meet "Best Boy" who is actually named Chilli (MB127).  This gorgeous kiwi bird is currently living it up in the Nocturnal House at Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre, where I get to hang out.
 
Pūkaha gives kiwi chicks the best chance to grow strong and safe before they’re released into the wild.  The kiwi breeding programme is part of Operation Nest Egg, where Pūkaha hatches and raises these chicks in a kiwi crèche.

Once the chicks are strong enough, they are released into the wild, with support from Save the Kiwi. 

This painting is my tribute to those brave newborn kiwis and the incredible work being done to protect them.
