Uffizi Gallery, Florence Italy - Giovanna Garzoni Challenge

I'm thrilled to share that my oil painting "Remembrance" is part of Uffizi gallery's exhibition from afar.

This online exhibition responds to the challenge to recapture the "familiar with the exotic" inspired by this emergent genre in the 1600s, and spotlighting Baroque artist Giovanna Garzoni.

Have a look at this new group of artworks in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF47lZ811 - note the video runs quickly, so it's best to set the playback speed to .75 under "settings".

“Remembrance” is inspired by the roses I grow in my garden and contrasts the present with the past by placing a vase of flowers with a late 19th century Ottoman silver coffee cup.”

The artwork is currently exhibiting at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Art until the 19th of July and can be purchased directly from the gallery, who can send artworks internationally.

Measures 76 cm (30 inches) square. Priced at NZ$1800 (US$1,156).
