Just finished and ready for a home is my new artwork titled "Wakahia". Measuring 91cm x 61cm x 3.5cm deep it would look amazing framed, but is ready to hang as is.
Narrative:
“Wakahuia” are Māori carved containers that store prized possessions. In my painting I have placed wakahuia next to the baby gannet as a symbol to show that our bird life and environment are treasures to be looked after. Covered in seaweed, the bird looks bejewelled and regal. However, it is climate change that forces the gannets to adapt to rising temperatures by cooling chicks with seaweed.
Thanks for reading.
