“Whakauruuru” is a Maori word meaning to join up together, or to mix and intermingle.  This is the second original artwork in my series that infuses Maori culture with my own culture (Puawai being my first artwork).

As a 5th generation New Zealander my ancesters came into Wellington harbour in 1843. This series tells my families story about their journey once they landed in Petone. “Whakauruuru” blends traditional Maori symbolism and carving with Celtic pattern and my English love of flowers.

The artwork measures 20.3cm x 30.5cm and will fit an 8 x 12” frame.

Materials

Printed by an offsite professional printing firm that uses high-quality archival inks, papers and canvases that are acid and lignin free. Only archival inks are used that will last up to 200 years.

Paper - 310gsm Ilford Galerie Prestige - 100% cotton rag. The coarse structured surface allows for a beautiful traditional watercolour look and feel, whilst still reproducing pin-sharp details and colour consistency.
