This image is from my original painting "Mad World". The narrative for this painting is:
What are Fiordland Penguins and a polar bear doing on top of the Putangirua Pinnacles? Is the stage set for them to go the way of the dinosaurs? Are they washed up with nowhere to go, their habitat lost, or is there time?
This artwork is representative of the environmental themes that underlie my work. Imagery, colour, and composition are my tools that allow me to deliver powerful messages on how we treat the world we inhabit. This painting is rendered in a light-hearted way but deals with the serious subject of climate change, habitat and species loss.
